  • Sharks' Igor Chernyshov: Signs entry-level deal

    Rotowire

Chernyshov signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Sharks on Thursday.

Chernyshov posted 28 points in 22 games with Dynamo Moscow's junior team in the MHL last season, and he also recorded four points in 34 regular-season outings with the KHL team. The winger was selected 33rd overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. It's unclear where he'll play in 2024-25, but it will likely be at least a couple of years before he's considered an NHL option.

  • Sharks' Thomas Bordeleau: Inks two-way deal

    Rotowire

Bordeleau signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Thursday, per PuckPedia.

Bordeleau's contract matches his qualifying offer, so he'll come with a $874,125 cap hit if he plays in the NHL. The 22-year-old had six goals and 11 points in 27 contests with the Sharks in 2023-24. He also provided 11 goals and 25 points across 35 outings with AHL San Jose.

  • Sharks' Henry Thrun: Re-ups for two years

    Rotowire

Thrun signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Sharks on Wednesday.

Thrun just finished his entry-level contract and posted 11 points over 51 contests last year. He earned four of those points on the power play and added 71 blocked shots and a minus-22 rating. With the Sharks expected to take a small step forward in 2024-25, Thrun should be able to contribute a bit more as a bottom-four defenseman with a power-play role, though his fantasy usefulness is still likely to be limited to deep formats.

  • Sharks' Brandon Coe: Signs one-year deal

    Rotowire

Coe signed a one-year, two-way contract with San Jose on Monday.

Coe collected 12 goals, 17 points and 43 PIM in 57 regular-season contests for AHL San Jose in 2023-24. The 22-year-old forward doesn't have any NHL experience yet. He will probably be in the minors at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Sharks' Ty Emberson: Ready for camp

    Rotowire

Emberson (lower body) will be fully fit when training camp kicks off ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Friday.

Emberson recently signed a one-year deal with the Sharks, resolving his restricted free-agent status ahead of the season. Last year, the 24-year-old defenseman saw action in 30 NHL contests in which he garnered one goal, nine assists and 31 shots while averaging 18:33 of ice time. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Emberson should take the next step in his development and be a full-time NHL option for San Jose.

  • Sharks' Ty Emberson: Pens one-year deal

    Rotowire

Emberson (lower body) inked a one-year, $950,000 contract with San Jose on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Emberson saw action in 30 regular-season games with the Sharks last year in which he notched one goal, nine assists and 94 hits while averaging 18:33 of ice time. The Wisconsin native should be in the mix for a full-time NHL roster spot this year, which sets him up well to offer decent mid-range fantasy value given his offensive upside.

  • Sharks' Sam Dickinson: Secures entry-level deal

    Rotowire

Dickinson signed a three-year, entry-level contract with San Jose on Wednesday.

Dickinson, who was selected 11th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, racked up 18 goals and 52 assists in 68 regular-season contests for OHL London before adding another 13 points in 18 playoff outings. Unlikely fellow 2024 draftee Macklin Celebrini, the 18-year-old Dickinson is unlikely to make the immediate jump to the NHL but could be added at the end of the year depending on when his junior campaign wraps up.

  • Sharks' Macklin Celebrini: Inks entry-level deal

    Rotowire

Celebrini signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Sharks on Saturday, per Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.

San Jose selected Celebrini with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. He amassed 32 goals and 64 points in 38 games for Boston University during his freshman season in 2023-24 en route to winning the Hobey Baker Award. As a member of the Sharks, he will likely occupy a top-six role and see time on the top power-play unit during his 2024-25 rookie campaign.

  • Sharks' Carl Grundstrom: Pens two-year contract

    Rotowire

Grundstrom signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Sharks on Thursday.

Grundstrom was dealt to San Jose from the Kings on June 27 in exchange for Kyle Burroughs. The 26-year-old had eight goals, four assists and 115 hits in 50 regular-season appearances in 2023-24. Look for Grundstrom to play as a bottom-six forward in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Ty Dellandrea: Inks two-year extension

    Rotowire

Dellandrea signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract with the Sharks on Thursday, per PuckPedia.

Dellandrea was dealt to San Jose from Dallas on June 19 for a 2025 fourth-round pick. The 13th pick in the 2018 Draft by the Stars, Dellandrea played in only 42 regular-season games in 2023-24, due to injuries and healthy scratches. He managed two goals and nine points, as well as a goal in six postseason games. Dellandrea will get a new start with the Sharks and will likely find himself battling for a role as a bottom-six forward in training camp.

  • Sharks' Egor Afanasyev: Heading to Russia

    Rotowire

Afanasyev is expected to sign a two-year deal in the KHL, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Afanasyev was a second-round pick by Nashville in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and was traded to the Sharks this offseason. He spent most of the last three years with AHL Milwaukee and scored 54 points in 65 AHL games during the 2023-24 season. He has one goal in 19 career NHL contests.

  • Sharks' Vitek Vanecek: Should be fine for training camp

    Rotowire

Vanecek (lower body) should be ready for the start of training camp, per Max Miller of The Hockey News on Monday.

Vanecek had a 17-9-3 record, 3.18 GAA and .890 save percentage in 32 contests with New Jersey last season. The Sharks acquired him in March, but he hasn't made his debut with San Jose due to a lower-body injury. Vanecek is set to compete with Mackenzie Blackwood for the starting job in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Jimmy Schuldt: Inks one-year agreement

    Rotowire

Schuldt signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Monday, per Max Miller of The Hockey News.

Schuldt had five goals and 24 points in 68 regular-season games with AHL Coachella Valley in 2023-24. The 29-year-old blueliner will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Sharks' Lucas Carlsson: Signs two-way contract

    Rotowire

Carlsson signed a two-year, two-way deal with San Jose on Monday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Carlsson spent most of the last two years with AHL Charlotte, totaling 93 points in 113 regular-season games. The 26-year-old blueliner has 60 games of NHL experience and could contend for a depth role with the Sharks in training camp.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Inks $10 million deal

    Rotowire

Wennberg agreed to terms on a two-year, $10 million contract with the Sharks on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Wennberg barely made the 30-point threshold this past season, needing 79 regular-season games split between the Kraken and Rangers to do it. The 29-year-old center looks poised to slot into a third-line role but could also be shifted to wing if the Sharks want to keep youngster Will Smith in his natural position.

  • Sharks' Tyler Toffoli: Pens four-year contract

    Rotowire

Toffoli inked a four-year, $24 million deal with San Jose on Monday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Toffoli has played for five different organizations over the last five seasons but will now return to California, this time with the Sharks. In 79 regular-season outings between the Devils and Jets last season, the veteran winger compiled 33 goals and 22 helpers. It was the second straight season in which Toffoli was able to reach the 30-goal mark, though he may have trouble getting to that mark with San Jose if the team's offense doesn't take a step forward in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Justin Bailey: Signs another two-way deal

    Rotowire

Bailey signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Sunday.

Bailey suited up in 59 contests with the Sharks after agreeing to a two-way deal with the team in late November. He contributed five goals, 14 points, 70 shots on net and 76 hits at the NHL level. Bailey also earned six goals and 11 points in 16 regular-season outings with AHL San Jose in 2023-24. He will compete for a depth spot with the Sharks during training camp in the fall.

  • Sharks' Luke Kunin: Agrees to one-year deal

    Rotowire

Kunin signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with San Jose on Sunday.

Kunin collected 11 goals, 18 points, 98 shots on net and 165 hits across 77 games with the Sharks during the 2023-24 campaign. Despite having limited offensive upside, the 26-year-old forward could occupy a middle-six role and see power-play time next season.

  • Sharks' Colton Roberts: Latest value pick

    Rotowire

Roberts was the 131st overall pick by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

A first-round draft pick (No. 11 overall) by Vancouver in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft, Roberts remains a work in progress. He skates well and makes a solid first pass, but that hasn't translated into much offense for the Giants thus far, as Roberts has just 10 goals and 39 points in 129 CHL games. The biggest flaw in Roberts' game is his inconsistency in man-on-man defending. The good news is that Roberts is one of the younger players in the draft, having just turned 18 in early June. He'll have plenty of time to iron out the deficiencies in his game.
