Physician Insight

Codify by AAPC explains physician terms in easy-to-understand language. When you code a procedure, Codify by AAPC supplies you with a detailed description, so you understand the physician's work.

Medical Records

You can often find the ICD-10 code printed after or under the "Diagnosis" (or "Dx") heading on a medical report, bill, or provider letter. Explanation of benefits (EOB) statements from your insurer might also contain ICD codes. It can contain up to seven characters, starting with a capital letter.

Are ICD-10 and ICD-10-CM the Same Thing? Many entities say “ICD-10” when they actually are referring to ICD-10-CM and/or ICD-10-PCS. Technically they are not the same thing. ICD-10-CM is a clinical modification of the WHO's ICD-10.

The ICD-10-CM April 1, 2024 update addresses typographical errors. There are no new diagnosis codes being implemented. The files in the Downloads section below contain information on the ICD-10-CM updates effective with discharges on and after April 1, 2024.

The first three characters of ICD-10-CM are the “category.” The category describes the general type of the injury or disease. The category is followed by a decimal point and the subcategory.

CPC stands for Certified Professional Coder. This medical coding certification is offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and serves to provide a sort of evidence that you have the knowledge and skills needed to work as a professional coder.

This is product is good, I will be working with it more this year than I did last year. I love how I can make my dashboard to my liking and have the search functions as I need them. ICD 10 and CPT lookup is helpful when using the key word search tool. I like how it shows changes/updates to what is being searched.

They may be under the words 'Problems' or 'Diagnoses' in your medical record. If you don't have access to your online medical record or can't find the ICD-10 codes, you can ask your healthcare provider to give you the list of your diagnoses and the codes that go with them.
