Solution Chemical bond Chemical bonds hold atoms in molecules together. Chains are linked by electrostatic repulsion between positively charged atomic nuclei and negatively charged electrons. Types of bond are the four essential types of bonding described in the article. Hydrogen-bonded solids are also another type of solid that is relevant in a few crystals. Covalent bond The term "covalent bond" refers to a chemical bond in which the electrons are shared electron pairs. When atoms share electrons, shared pairs or bonding pairs are the stable balance of favorable and repulsive forces between particles, whereas covalent bonding is the stable balance of electrostatic repulsion between each other. Types of Covalent bond Intramolecular covalent bond Intramolecular covalent bonding is the most difficult to break. These ties are perhaps the toughest to break and yet the most stable.
