How to Thicken SAUCES, Stews and Gravies with Meade Potato Starch

The Meade Farm Potato Starch helps to thicken a sauce or stew as it cooks. Whisk our potato starch in a little cold water to make a paste, then stir into the stew towards the end of the cooking process, once the liquid is hot, for best results.

How to Thicken Soups, Sauces, Stews and Gravies
with Potato Flour

  • For thickening approx 500mls of sauce, mix 3-4 teaspoons of the Potato Starch with 3-4 tablespoons of cold liquid.

  • Bring the liquid to the boil.

  • Remove from the heat.

  • Stir in the Potato Starch paste.

  • Return to a gentle heat and stir as it thickens.

  • Take care not to over boil.
