We loved the Coastal Cactus and went every year. So sad to hear it's gone now. I had heard about bad reviews for there but we always had a great experience. So now I'm wondering where I can take the kids one night for good Mexican (anywhere in Kill Devil, Nags Head, or Corolla would be the best areas for us). Thanks so much!

I love Mex-Cali too, but it is really not Mexican but very good Tex Mex. The sauces are wonderful!

I love Mexi-Cali also!!! Yummy.Wish I was going there tonight....I love to buy the sauces and use them at home on just about anything when we bbq. They sell them in empty bottles of Petron Tequila, kinda cool I think.Never tried La Fogata, will have to give it a whirl.

I'm a fan of La Fogata, pretty good food and reasonably priced and IMO I think its authentic Mexican food. We will drive down from Corolla since they moved .

There is some type of Mexican restaurant in the Corolla Light Town Shops but it's not really a sit down type place. They have tables outside. Heard it was good.

Yes you are correct, but I have yet to try it out. What are you speaking of is a place called Donkey Hotay’s . There is also a place in Tim Buck II where you can get some mexican food, place is called [COLOR=#0000cc][COLOR=black]Bad Bean Taqueria, very good and worth checking out! Thank you everyone! Now I'm not so bummed. We love to try new places. Now we have several to choose from. My "to try" restaurant list is very long this year. Although last year we found the fresh seafood we bought was heaven on the grill. Decisions, decisions.

Mexican family owns La Fogatas so it is authenic for here. There is another Tex-Mex in Manteo call Oretaga's Grill. Very good and they have outdoor cafe-style seating available. Smoke-free inside. Beer and wine only. Lunch and dinner with daily specials.

It may be a bit out of your area, but there is a new Mexican restaurant in the Elizabethan Inn that is authentic Mexican, not American-Mexican. If you appreciate the difference, it may be worth the drive. It is good, and it is cheap. They are a new restaurant, so the service is still a little slow, and the wait staff doesn't always speak English, but if you like the real thing, go and support them. We have needed a real Mexican restaurant for a long time, and I am thankful that they are here.

That is very interesting. It's a bit far for dinner from Kitty but might be worth a look sometime - I love Mexican and I am just ok with what we have here to choose from. mi español es bastante malo

Friends were just telling me about it yesterday and they said it was very good. Javier and his mother are cooking with very fresh, homemade ingredients. I was told it is called the Virginia Dare Mexican Restaurant. Cannot wait to try it out. Thanks for the reminder!
