Background[]
Little is known about Martha 6715-301 and her real name was never disclosed in the series. She was a Martha who was accused of "gender treachery".
Story[]
Martha 6715-301 was caught in a same-sex relationship with Ofglen. Both were both arrested and investigated, including "witness statements" where e.g. Offred was interrogated under duress.[1]
Trial[]
She and Ofglen were taken to a Gileadean court where they faced a show trial. They were gagged and had nobody to speak for their defence whereas the prosecution's only burden of proof was to state that the evidence was true and complete. Both women were charged with committing gender treachery, immediately convicted and sentenced.
Sentence[]
The Martha was sentenced to death. Both were driven to the place of execution, still bound and gagged, and the clearly terrified woman hanged by a crane while Ofglen watched from the back of the van used to transport them.
Ofglen was driven to a hospital for her sentence to be carried out: a cl*torodectomy, more commonly known as female genital mutilation. She was then reassigned to another household where she resumed her prescribed societal role as Handmaid.[1]
