Components in RimWorld can only be crafted at the Fabrication Bench using 12x Steel. Additionally, the colonist operating the station should at least have Crafting Lv. 8. One unit of Component takes 5,000 ticks (about 1.4 minutes) to complete. But thankfully, this isn't the only way to get them.
Alternatively, players can farm Components in RimWorld by mining them from compacted machinery tiles. Normally, each mined block yields 2x Component. However, players can modify the yield through difficulty settings or developer commands. If you don't see any compacted machinery tiles immediately, you may uncover them by mining your way into rock formations.
RimWorld colony leaders can also instruct their colonists to deconstruct ship chunks to gather Components in RimWorld, something you can get more of as other ships crash land in your area. Each disassembled ship chunk yields 20x Steel and 5x or 6x Components.
Players may also purchase Components from traders.
