All insects have a complete digestive system. This means that food processing occurs within a tube-like enclosure, the alimentary canal, running lengthwise through the body from mouth to anus. Ingested food usually travels in only one direction.

The alimentary canal in insects extends from mouth to anus which is divided in to an anterior stomodaeum (foregut), middle midgut (mesenteron or stomach or ventriculus) and posterior hindgut (proctodaeum).

The insect's digestive system is a closed system, with one long enclosed coiled tube called the alimentary canal which runs lengthwise through the body. The alimentary canal only allows food to enter the mouth, and then gets processed as it travels toward the anus.

Incomplete digestive systems only have one opening for food intake and waste removal. These systems are more primitive and exist in lower animal species, like jellyfish and sea sponges. Complete digestive systems are more complex and have a complete tube with separate openings for food and waste.

The digestive system is made up of organs that are important for digesting food and liquids. These include the mouth, pharynx (throat), esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus.

The organs that make up your GI tract, in the order that they are connected, include your mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and anus.

Digestive and Excretory Systems. An insect uses its digestive system to extract nutrients and other substances from the food it consumes. Most of this food is ingested in the form of macromolecules and other complex substances (such as proteins, polysaccharides, fats, nucleic acids, etc.)

A damaged vagus nerve can't send signals normally to your stomach muscles. This may cause food to remain in your stomach longer, rather than move into your small intestine to be digested. The vagus nerve and its branches can be damaged by diseases, such as diabetes, or by surgery to the stomach or small intestine.

When stools are hard to pass, it can feel like you haven't fully emptied your bowels. This could be a sign of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C). IBS is a digestive disorder that affects 7%–21% of people in the United States. It includes symptoms such as belly pain, constipation, and diarrhea.

An incomplete digestive system consists of a digestive cav ity with one opening. The single opening serves as both mouth and anus. A complete digestive system consists of a digestive tract with two openings. One opening is the mouth. The other is the anus.

Bile consists of ~95% water in which are dissolved a number of endogenous solid constituents including bile salts, bilirubin phospholipid, cholesterol, amino acids, steroids, enzymes, porphyrins, vitamins, and heavy metals, as well as exogenous drugs, xenobiotics and environmental toxins (76).

After you eat, it takes about six to eight hours for food to pass through your stomach and small intestine. Food then enters your large intestine (colon) for further digestion, absorption of water and, finally, elimination of undigested food. It takes about 36 hours for food to move through the entire colon.

The organs of the digestive system starts from the mouth followed by the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and then finally undigested food is removed from the body through the rectum.
