Cooking your Haggis

Cook in water

There are different ways to cook your Haggis, however, the traditional way is by wrapping it tightly with tinfoil and placing it in a simmering (NOT boiling) pot of water. It will take approximately 60 minutes to cook (from frozen) or 45 minutes (from thawed).

Cook in the oven

You can also cook your haggis in the oven. As mentioned by HaggisUK, wrap the haggis in foil, put in an ovenproof dish with some space around it, then pour in boiling water so it comes about 2.5cm (1in) up the sides of the dish. Cook for about 1 hour 45 mins until piping hot throughout (topping up water as needed). Remove skin and clips before serving.

Cook in the microwave

Another way you can cook Haggis is in the microwave! Emilie Wade from Delish says the first step is to remove the skin, slice, and tip the haggis into a microwave safe bowl. Add a little water, cover and microwave on full power for three and a half minutes, stirring after two minutes. When ready, remove, stir, cover, and allow to stand for one to two minutes before serving.
